Google's decision to not sync Gmail during doze unilaterally changes email UX!!!

Google made an arbitrary decision to not sync Gmail at high priority during doze, unilaterally changing email UX. Rather than being notified within seconds of receiving an email, users now can expect to wait up to 30 minutes, or in some cases until they power on their device, before receiving some push notifications. Doze is a battery optimization that has a significant savings impact on battery life, but email needs to be delivered in a timely manner and should be exempt from doze. This has been an ongoing issue since Marshmallow and it is exasperated by the more aggressive doze mode in recent releases. Disabling battery-saving features for gmail does nothing to help, but there are third-party apps that can help, and disabling doze mode altogether works ('adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable'), albeit that's extreme.
