Two-stage camera buttons on phones

Why do you think that it's not more common? Sony is currently the only phone manufacturer that does it (which makes me consider them even though I'm not sold on their phones otherwise). But in the past I remember that for windows phones it was a prerequisite for device makers to include if they wanted to ship phones with windows.
With the increased focus on camera technologies and it being one of the few things that actually differentiate flagships from mid range phones it is strange that it is not considered. It could even be a multi function button (for Samsung it could be used for Bixby with a short press, while a long press would start up the camera and then allow to use it a shutter button).
And before anyone mentions that volume buttons can be used as shutter buttons, it's not the same thing. A two stage camera button is: Focus with first light press and a harder press takes the actual picture. Just like a proper camera.inro.in/lucky-patcher/inro.in/9apps/inro.in/vidmate/
